| Description: | 7th-12 Agricultural Education Instructor Job Description: Valley R-VI School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for a 7th-12th grade Agricultural Education Instructor position for the upcoming school year. This position is a full-time, salaried, 11-month per year position. Reports To: The Agricultural Education Instructor reports directly to the JH/High School Principal, while working under the authority of the District Superintendent. Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor Degree is preferred Certification/License: Appropriate DESE certification Certification in Agricultural Education preferred Work Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred Agricultural Education experience is preferable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Able to promote the district mission and a positive image of Valley R-VI Schools to students, staff, parents, and the public Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents. Ability to collaborate and work as a team with other staff within the building and district Background in Agriculture Education and/or Agriculture related areas Takes initiative, detail-oriented and is highly organized Working knowledge of the safe, orderly & efficient operation of a farm and farm equipment Essential Duties: Responsible for maintaining and utilizing student instruction to assist in the upkeep, supervision, and efficient operation of the school district owned 60 acre farm Develops and instructs the Agricultural Education curriculum compliant with state guidelines and for the betterment of the students Responsible for the supervision and safety of students and staff while working on the district farm and in Agricultural Education related tasks Develops and ensures the district Agricultural Education budget is fiscally sound Supervises the Future Farmers of America (FFA) extracurricular organization Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Serve as the district liaison in public relations and communication relating to the Agriculture Education program Promotes Agricultural Education opportunities with students, parents, and community Communicates and assists students with post secondary opportunities Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibility as assigned by supervisors | |
