| Description: | K-12 School Counselor Job Posting Job Description: Valley R-VI School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for a K-12 school counselor position for the upcoming school year. This position is a full-time, salaried, 10-month per year position. Reports To: The school counselor reports directly to both the JH/High School Principal and the Elementary School Principal, while working under the authority of the District Superintendent. Qualifications: Education: A Master’s Degree in School Counseling Certification/License: Appropriate DESE certification Certification as a School Psychological Examiner is preferred Work Experience: Three years or more teaching experience preferred School Counseling experience is preferable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Able to promote the district mission and a positive image of Valley R-VI Schools to students, staff, parents, and the public Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate and work as a team with other staff within the building and district Background in assisting students and others with social and emotional needs Takes initiative, detail-oriented and is highly organized Working knowledge of required district assessments and reporting Strong computer and technology skills Essential Duties: Responsible for advising and counseling students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional problems Serve as the district assessment coordinator, A+ coordinator, and homeless liaison Develops and instructs the district’s counseling curriculum Responsible for recording and submitting student and district records & reports - ex. ICAP Ensures that all students have successfully completed all assessment requirements - i.e. ACT, ASVAB, Workkeys, End of Course Assessment, MAP, etc. Communicates and assists students with post secondary opportunities - ex. scholarships, college applications, vocational school applications, job applications, FAFSA, military enlistment, etc. Conducts and documents district follow up with former students Handles all transcript requests Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibility as assigned by supervisors | |
