Description:  The College of Education at the University of Missouri (MU) seeks an innovative, experienced and entrepreneurial leader to serve as Director of Mizzou K-12 Online. Mizzou K-12 Online is a program to increase the accessibility, quality and affordability of K–12 online education. The college’s program specializes in providing courses that meet the specific needs of Missouri students and schools. This position provides leadership in managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that the Mizzou K-12 Online virtual learning environment meets the approved curricula and mission of the College of Education as well as the needs of the students.
Other Information:  The Director’s responsibilities include the following:

Establish positive rapport with Mizzou K-12 Online students, parents, contact persons in districts or educational entities, UM and state-level education stakeholders to promote the work on the program. Supervise the delivery of program content to Mizzou K-12 Online students via the program Learning Management System and synchronous communication system.

Work closely with other Mizzou K-12 Online personnel to supervise the development, delivery, and maintenance of high quality online educational experiences for K-12 students that insure a focus on student-centered, higher order thinking skills, and collaborative instruction. Monitor required documentation for student participation in program via the Student Information System (SIS).

Develop and implement program budgets. Provide MU College of Education administration with periodic program and financial information.

Collaborate with MU College of Education faculty and others in the preparation and submission of applicable grant applications, requests for proposals (RFPs), and other potential external funding sources to support Mizzou K-12 Online program activities.

Arrange and supervise professional development experiences for Mizzou K-12 Online staff, organize and direct appropriate committees and work groups, and ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Mizzou K-12 Online.

Remain informed about state and national standards and policies in order to ensure Mizzou K-12 Online program alignment with applicable standards and policies (e.g., NCAA eligibility requirements). Coordinate all policies and standards with those set by the University of Missouri and the MU College of Education.

Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Education with Missouri administrator certification plus a minimum two years of K-12 teaching experience and K-12 administrative experience.
Experience with online teaching – either as administrator, facilitator or student.
Knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous inquiry-based learning methodologies. Experience with multimedia distance instructional technologies (includes computers, use of Learning Management Systems, Student Information Systems, synchronous VoIP audio/video programs, and other productivity software).
Strong interpersonal relationship skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter, self-motivated. Willingness and ability to travel within the state of Missouri and outside of Missouri on an occasional overnight basis.

Preferred Qualifications: An Educational Specialist's degree in Education and 3+ years K-12 teaching experience.
Experience as a building or district level administrator in the state of Missouri.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in online teaching.
Experience in development of online courses.

Salary/Starting Date: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Starting date is negotiable.
