| Description: | GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Science Teachers of Missouri Executive Director is responsible for guiding and supporting the organization's mission and for overseeing all of its operations as defined and delegated by the STOM Board of Directors. The Executive Director is a half time position with some weekend work required. The Executive Director reports to the STOM Board of Directors. A successful candidate for the position of Executive Director should possess strong leadership and organizational skills and be able to work cooperatively with a broad cross section of stakeholders to reach a common vision. The Executive Director should have excellent skills in writing, public speaking, and advocacy. A working knowledge of national, state, and local issues relating to science education is required. The Executive Director should be fully prepared to support and implement the financial goals as established by STOM. QUALIFICATIONS 1. A combination of 7-10 years science education experience in any of the following capacities - K-12 classroom teacher, science curriculum specialist, science supervisor/coordinator, informal science educator, etc.; 2.Demonstrated experience in managing science classroom instruction or science programs; 3.Demonstrated leadership in science education; and 4.Demonstrated grant/proposal writing experience. | |
| Other Information: | The Executive Director position begins June 1, 2011. This is a position that is funded as half-time.
