| Description: | Putnam County High School is currently seeking applicants to fill a teaching vacancy in the position of High School Building Trades Instructor and Skills USA Sponsor for the 2024-2025 school year. Qualified candidates will be responsible for providing instruction in the area of building construction and will focus on training students for entry-level carpentry skills. The instructor will evaluate student progress and maintain classroom management to ensure student engagement and learning. Strong classroom management skills are a must as student safety is our number one priority. Putnam County R-I Schools are committed to having a positive culture with passionate teachers who make student learning and engagement their top priority. We are proud to call ourselves a professional learning community at PCR-I. Monthly collaborative meetings are held with vocational teachers and the vocational director. Putnam County R-I is a rural district with approximately 180 students in grades 9-12. We are located just south of the Iowa border at the junction of State Highways 5 and 136. Our community is fortunate to have some beautiful scenery whether you choose to live in the country, or at our prestigious Lake Thunderhead. Putnam County has outstanding community support, and it shows in our excellent facilities. PCR-I students are one-to-one with Chromebooks grades 2-12 and all teachers use Google Suite in their classrooms. Coaching and or sponsorship opportunities could be an option with this position if interested. The successful candidate should hold a valid Missouri teacher’s certificate in Building Trades or have the required hours of work experience to become certified. The start date for this position is early August 2024. Our 2023-24 base teacher salary was $38,000 with the possibility of a base increase for the 2024-2025 school year.
