Description:  The School District of Cape Girardeau is seeking a full-time Air Force JROTC Aerospace Science Instructor for the 2023-24 academic year. Air Force JROTC Aerospace Science Instructor Brief Description of Position: JROTC instructors are responsible for providing a positive, developmental, and supportive experience and environment for 9th through 12th grade students. The instructor will teach academic classes about leadership, management, citizenship, responsibility, drill, and physical fitness. The instructor will work closely with the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor in the management of the school’s JROTC program including planning, logistics, finance, personnel, and operations. The instructor must be willing to accept shared responsibilities in the supervision of co-curricular teams and cadet corps activities, many of which are outside of normal school hours. The instructor must be an outstanding role model and represent the Air Force Core Values of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. Required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree (in any discipline); If within six hours of degree completion, an academic completion agreement may be offered. · Must satisfy one of the following three categories: o Retired from the United States Air Force, within the past five years, in the rank of E6 through E9. o Veteran, honorably discharged from the United States Air Force within the past five years, in rank of E6 through E9. Must have at least 10 years of service. o Current Air National Guard or Air Force Reservist in the rank of E6 through E9. Must have completed at least 10 years of service. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the educational team. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. · Ability to work independently and take initiative. · Air Force height/weight, uniform, and personal grooming standards apply. Preferred Qualifications: · MO teaching certification in Career and Technical Education. · Instructional experience. · In-depth knowledge of applicable Air Force standards and instructions. Instructors are school employees, however Headquarters AFJROTC maintains instructor standards and initial hiring process.
