Full job description at https://hoganprep.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx Job Title: Restorative Advocate Reports To: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Contract Days: Ten-month Academic Year JOB GOALS Restorative Advocates will work in classrooms with teachers and students to provide proactive support and strategies to elevate the success and potential of all students. By the end of the 2022-2023 SY, Tier I discipline referrals will decrease by 10% and the number of out-of-school suspensions will decrease by 5%. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Helps create and sustain a positive learning environment for all students within the RAMS Room and across the school Monitor arrival and dismissal procedures Collaborate with Hogan staff members and community organizations to create individualized success plans Assist in monitoring and implementing success plans for students Provide ongoing assessments of student progress, including weekly check-ins and data collection Create list of general best practices for staff members to support student behavior and provide professional development on implementation Conduct conflict resolution and mediation between peers and adults Support with crisis intervention, including processing with students, de-escalation strategies, and proactive planning for future situations Collect and analyze behavior data for school site to address school, classroom, and individual needs Craft and implement social emotional lessons for small groups of students Evaluate family needs and submit referrals to administration as needed Conduct home visits for families of concern and establish next steps for success Establish partnerships with community businesses and service providers NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE Required: 60 college credit hours (Preferred: Bachelor’s in Education or similar field) Required: Experience with children and educational settings (Preferred: urban experience) Experience with conflict resolution Understanding of trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and student support Adept at data collection and communication Missouri teacher or counselor certification or licensed as a social worker, professional counselor, or psychologist preferred Minimum - Valid Missouri substitute certification Ability to pass an extensive background check Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and students KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong familiarity with education and child welfare policies and best practices and a motivation to continue expanding that knowledge base through self-study and interaction with peers. Excellent organizational skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities simultaneously. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and other educational partners Initiative to identify challenges, as well as to design and implement solutions Excellent work ethic, positive attitude and exceptional people skills
