Description:  ***Must apply online at https://hoganprep.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx Job Title: Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional Reports To: Principal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Contract Days: Ten month Academic Year JOB SUMMARY The Behavior Interventionist Paraprofessional provides direction and support at the school level through collaboration to design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a social and emotional support system that results in students being prepared academically and self-managers of their own behavior. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES During the virtual learning phase of Hogan this position will provide specific support in the following ways: Support for parents and students regarding virtual learning behavior expectations Assist with Recruitment and retention of students Check in and follow up with parents through emails, phone calls, and/or home visits regarding attendance, behavior progress, and other supports Monitor, collect, and analyze data on attendance in collaboration with classroom teachers and office Collect and analyze data on behavior progress, interventions, and successes (Weekly Tracker) Develop and coordinate celebrations and small rewards on attendance and Small group counseling support for Tier 2 and 3 students Attend virtual learning classroom sessions to provide coaching to teachers, students, and Attend PLCs for the grade levels assigned for support. OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Create and implement an observation tool that will provide information to support improved instruction and social emotional Provides diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which Tier 2 and 3 students thrive: behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample Engage in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behavior and social/emotional support for all students, targeted students and students who represent sub-group Provide complete and timely documentation to support services rendered Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job Help coordinate behavior success plans that address students’ inappropriate behaviors and missing skills to provide a means to help the students become more academically NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Substitute certification or ParaPro 60 credit hours College hours in education or related mental health field preferred Believes all children must succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality Experience with “at risk” and/or “behaviorally challenged” students KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Expert knowledge of function-based intervention planning for developing behavior change strategies that focuses on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate Expert knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete function–based interventions, and behavior success plans Knowledge of the effects of trauma on students’ learning and experience with trauma- informed strategies Knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, groups and systems through the application of positive behavior supports and social/emotional Ability to work as a member of the team Ability to work well with students Ability to manage student behavior Ability to pass extensive background check Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel Self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and students Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents and students Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to work independently Ability to follow internal procedures to ensure internal controls are properly maintained
