| Description: | The Ballard R-II School District has an opening for a part-time vocal and instrumental music teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a part-time position. If you need a full-time position, there are other small districts nearby that may be willing to share a teacher. This position would also nicely fit the schedule of a retired teacher. A valid Missouri teaching certificate is not required, but would be helpful. A successful candidate will possess (or be eager to learn) the ability to actively engage students in the learning process and the ability to provide opportunities for individuals to achieve their maximum potential. The students are in grades K-6 vocal music and grade 5-8 for instrumental. Ballard is a small, rural district with approximately 100 students, located between Adrian, MO and Clinton, MO on 18 highway; within 45 minutes south of the KC metro area and 20 minutes west of Truman Reservoir. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for planning, instructing, and evaluating student instruction and learning by implementing the music curriculum in an enthusiastic and positive manner. 2. Encourage a love and appreciation of music in children and seek to highlight the talents of children in the building through exposure to both vocal and instrumental music. 3. Must be innovative, creative, and tap into student interests. 4. Accountable for building individual classroom relationships with students and effective classroom management. 5. Work successfully as part of a team/committee in a highly collaborative manner for building and district-wide benefits outside of the music room. 6. Strong interpersonal relations with staff, students, and parents. 7. Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education, the regulations of DESE, and State and Federal Law. 8. Relates plans to clearly defined objectives consistent with established curriculum. 9. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 10. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Maintains confidentiality and non-judgmental views of children and families served. 11. Takes all necessary and responsible precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Promotes an environment in which all students feel free to participate. 12. Continues professional growth through participation in developmental opportunities. 13. Participates in curriculum improvement and development and revision of course outlines for the classes he/she teaches. 14. Performs campus supervision as needed or directed by supervisor. 15. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Works collaboratively with peers. 16. Participates cooperatively with the Principal in performance evaluations as stated in the district’s policies/procedures. 17. Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent or principal. | |
