| Description: | The Knob Noster School District is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) Teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate diverse professional knowledge, a vision of excellence, a student-centered focus, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. The COMS’ primary responsibility is to instruct visually impaired students in the development of skills and knowledge that enables him or her to travel independently, based on assessed needs and ability in familiar and unfamiliar environments. The COMS will be expected to consult with general education teachers, special education teachers, parents and others participating in the programming and services for the students being served. The COMS will be expected to prepare and uses equipment and materials for the development of O&M skills. The COMS will be required to transport the student with parent permission to various community locations, as necessary, to provide meaningful instruction in realistic learning environments.
