Description:   State Fair Community College is an accessible, learning-centered institution, enriching its students and community by providing skills, knowledge and perspectives essential for a changing world. Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills The Career & Technology Director shall serve as the administrative leader of the State Fair Career and Technology Center, a career and technical school serving secondary students from 10 sending schools. The director is accountable to the Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Education of State Fair Community College and responsive to the educational direction from the Superintendents of School from the 10 sending districts and the Career and Technical Advisory Committee. The director is responsible for the administration and supervision of the Career and Technical School and for the policies, rules and regulations of the SFCC Board of Trustees and Division of Career Education of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Career and Technology Center offers training in eight career fields. Program options include: auto mechanics, building trades, early childhood education, electrical & power, graphic design, health occupations, machine tool and welding. An alternative education program is also in place to assist students with credit recovery. The preceding duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed. Under limited direction, responsible for the administration and supervision of the Career and Technology Center. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications & Requirements Knowledge of: Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles as well as methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and performance evaluation. Ability to: Motivate, develop, and direct people and activities of administrative departments. Coordinate and evaluate the activities of personnel by identifying measures of system performance and the actions needed to improve performance. Establish operational policies and procedures. Participate in faculty and college committee activities. Plan, administer, and control budgets, maintain financial records, and produce financial reports. Education: The equivalent of a Master's Degree in Education, with major preparation in Career Education. Hold or eligible for Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Directors certification. Experience: Two years experience in teaching or supervision of a program in career education. Preferred experience with embedded credit and DESE Enhancement grant administration. PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS –Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting. There is frequent sitting, with walking, standing and stooping occasionally required. There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
