Description: | The Residential Treatment Program at Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a full-time Academic teacher. The Academic Teacher provides instruction to adolescents age 13-18 in the Residential Program at Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital. The Academic Teacher adheres to a Missouri DESE-approved course of study while exercising creativity and flexibility in adapting coursework to fit the needs and abilities of the residential consumers diagnosed with serious emotional disturbances. The Academic Teacher must be qualified to implement Individualized Education Plans. The qualified candidate will minimally possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited college or university and Missouri teacher certification in Elementary, Middle School, or Secondary Education. This position requires four or more years of post-baccalaureate teaching experience, preferably in a mental health setting. This position reports to the Education Coordinator. This is a 12-month position and the regular schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
