Description:  1. Initiate and perform the payroll duties for all personnel actions, which include full-time and temporary new employees, promotions, transfers, salary increases, leave without pay, terminations and retirements. 2. Maintain data in SAM II payroll system. 3. Review staff attendance records for discrepancies and resolve issues. 4. Examine data to determine if conforming to established policies and procedures. 5. Calculate individual employee pay distribution for school-term staff based on particular criteria specific to the position including pay due upon resignation. 6. Collect and analyze data for pay adjustments. 7. Meet all required deadlines for timely dissemination of pay to employees. 8. Oversee compliance with facilitation of policies and procedures with the Family Medical Leave Act. 9. Administer the leave policies and the computerized leave system. 10. Manage and monitor employee personnel records according to personnel file guidelines. 11. Process and maintain I-9 records according to federal guidelines. 12. Review, process and track Workers’ Compensation claims and follow-up paperwork. 13. Review unemployment claims and prepare unemployment audit reports. 14. Prepare or assist in compensation and classification reports, demographic reports, and other personnel-related reports as need for Superintendent and/or Assistant Commissioner. 15. Research and respond to questions from staff related to payroll, employment and leave issues. 16. Maintain confidentiality of personnel information. 17. Delivers employee orientation seminars and coordinates other training for staff. 18. Coordinates blood drive events for MSB. 19. Maintains permanent benefits files for all MSB personnel. 20. Establishes the database for tuition reimbursement annually and reviews all requests prior to Business Director’s approval. 21. Answers questions for employees regarding benefits and deductions. 22. Attends statewide meetings on human resource issues. 23. Performs other duties as assigned.
