| Description: | The Multi-District Program for the Visually Impaired, Raytown C-2 School District, Raytown, Missouri is seeking a certified teacher of the visually impaired with dual certification in orientation and mobility for the 2008-2009 school year. The Multi-District Program for the Visually Impaired is an itinerant special education cooperative serving blind and visually impaired students in 13 school districts. The students range in age from 3 to 21 years. The vision specialist reports to the Executive Director of Special Education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS are as follows. 1. Missouri Teaching Certificate or the credentials for Missouri certification in the area of Blind/Partially Sighted and A.E.R. (Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired) certification in orientation and mobility. 2. Excellent interpersonal skills 3. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in speaking and writing 4. Familiarity with word processing, database systems 5. Ability to work efficiently and independently 6. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills 7. Ability to perform all other assigned responsibilities for the position PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES are as follows. 1. Direct or provide consultative services to students 2. Conduct assessments 3. Consult with instructional staff 4. Procure equipment and materials 5. Maintain records 6. Consultation to educational team 7. Maintain an atmosphere of learning. 20. Adheres to good safety practices. 21. Adheres to all district rules, regulations and policies. 22. Performs other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT is as follows. This position is a 9 month position with employee working 7 hours per day.
