Description:  Macon R-1 Elementary School is looking for a certified Upper Elementary Classroom Teacher (ELA/Social Studies) for the 24/25 school year. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides instruction to students using effective instructional strategies. Participates in curriculum review and design. Creates and implements a classroom disciplinary plan. Creates lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction. Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly. Participates in building, grade level and/or subject area committees. Participates in professional development activities. Maintains accurate student records including attendance, grades, and discipline. Completes and submits forms and required reports in a timely manner. Communicates regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns. Reports suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board policy. Prepares lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher. Attends established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g., Back-to-School Night, Open House, programs, activities, and faculty meetings). Assumes other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate or Certification in progress to be considered Positive interpersonal relationship skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of digital resources, tools, and instructional applications Our core beliefs drive our culture for success, where we strive to be a model of excellence, preparing and empowering students to meaningfully contribute to their future.
