| Description: | The Newburg R-II School District is seeking a dynamic counselor to serve our elementary students. Newburg operates on a 4 day school week with approximately 370 students in grades prek-12. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Missouri Counseling Certification/License 2. Teaching experience and/or counseling experience REPORTS TO: Building Principal JOB GOAL: As a member of the district guidance staff, the elementary counselor implements the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program for students in grades K-6. The counselor provides activities to meet the needs of the students, consults with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students, and provides support to other elementary programs. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Implement the elementary guidance curriculum. 2. Guide and counsel groups and individual students through the development of social emotional skills. 3. Consult with teachers, staff, and parents to best meet the needs of students. 4. Refer students to appropriate community resources in communication with their parents and other district staff. 5. Participate in, coordinate, or conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school. 6. Evaluate and revise the building guidance program. 7. Pursue professional growth. 8. Participate and/or lead the student assist team. 9. Fulfill other duties as assigned. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board. The most significant duties have been included in this description. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.
