Description:  POSITION TITLE: Middle School Principal F.L.S.A.: Exempt QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Missouri Principal Certificate covering grades 6-8. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience preferred. REPORTS TO: Superintendent TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 212 Contract Days JOB GOAL: To lead and manage the East Buchanan Middle School in a manner that maximizes student outcomes and provides a physically and emotionally safe learning environment for students and staff. In addition to the job functions listed below, East Buchanan will be opening a new middle school for the 2025-2026 school year. This building is now under construction. The MS principal will be working closely with district administration and our architectural partners to prepare for the opening of this new building. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Abides by Missouri statutes, school board policies, and regulations. Upholds school rules and administrative regulations. Evaluates certified and classified staff Maintains discipline throughout building Strong communication skills Student-centered approach to decision-making Emphasis on shared leadership Takes on assigned supervision of athletics and extra curricular activities Exhibits dependability and punctuality in assigned duties. Displays appropriate personal and professional traits that present a positive role model for students and staff. Utilizes data to inform leadership. Adheres to all special education regulations and works directly with Director of Special Services Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Principal will teach using proven, research-based leadership strategies Principal will lead the use of effective instructional strategies Principal will evaluate curriculum and programs and modify as needed Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. Supports district/school decisions in a positive manner with the public, staff, and students. Participates in developing and leading professional development Demonstrates professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress, and appropriate professional manner for the work setting. Reads, analyzes and interprets professional journals, assessment data, state standards, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms, and governmental regulations and guidance. Maintains strict confidentiality. Adheres to good safety practices. Adheres to all district rules, regulations and policies. Fulfills all other duties as required or assigned.
