| Description: | Job Title: Instructional Coach Responsible To: Building principal Qualifications: Bachelors degree in education at assigned level Training and successful experience (at least 5 years, preferred) in teaching research-based core instruction Masters Degree preferred Primary Functions: The Instructional Coach will facilitate and support the development of instructional skills through guidance activities and professional development for staff. General Responsibilities: The Instructional Coach will help building staff work more effectively and determine instructional strategies and needed interventions for students. Specific Duties: Model best practices/instructional strategies in classrooms Observe/coach individual teachers as needed Present/organize staff development Analyze and organize data to make informed decisions about instruction Assist teachers in using data for planning instruction Assist staff in planning/train instructors for interventions for struggling readers. Plan/facilitate grade level collaboration sessions Assist teachers with classroom management/arrangement as it pertains to literacy instruction. Work with teachers to identify key areas of weakness for struggling readers Research and provide new methods, materials, and strategies to staff Collaborate routinely with other instructional coaches and administration to share ideas and strategies Perform other tasks as assigned which are critical to the successful implementation of comprehensive literacy. | |
