| Description: | The West Plains R-VII School District is seeking highly qualified applicants for a High School Assistant Band Director for the 2024-2025 school year. This person will work alongside the current high school and middle school band instructors in a non-competitive band program with a team-teaching environment. Percussion emphasis is preferred but not required. This position will teach all classes on the main campus except for one beginning band class which will require travel time daily. Teaching assignments and other duties will depend on instrument specialization. West Plains High School houses approximately 1150 students grades 9-12. West Plains High School has a rich tradition of academic excellence. In addition, West Plains High School offers a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities to enhance and develop students' individual strengths and skills. Our band program includes a non-competitive marching band, 2 high school concert bands, 2 high school jazz bands, high school pep band, high school percussion orchestra, and middle school bands for grades 6, 7, and 8. Our program emphasis is on the concert and jazz band ensembles. Successful candidate(s) will possess the ability to actively engage students in the learning process and the ability to provide opportunities for students to achieve their maximum potential. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities, Missouri Learning Standards, and Response to Intervention. The successful candidate(s) will also be able to interpret and utilize data to support curriculum decisions and determine effectiveness of instruction. | |
