Description:  The Excelsior Springs School District is accepting applications for an Early Childhood Center Teacher for the 2024/2025 school year. POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Center Teacher F.L.S.A. Exempt QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification in Early Childhood Special Education. REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New teachers 177 days, returning teachers 174 days, with benefits provided according to the Excelsior Springs School District. JOB GOAL: To assist students in learning the appropriate subject matter, skills and/or attitudes that will contribute to their development as responsible citizens. KEY FUNCTIONS: The teacher will implement a nationally recognized preschool curriculum model approved by DESE and the School District. The teacher will conduct screening activities for students to be accepted into the program. The teacher will develop lesson plans, learning experiences, and instructional materials to assure age-appropriate skills are achieved to the best of each child's ability. The teacher will promote and evaluate academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. The teacher will appropriately and effectively communicate with parents, students, other district staff and the public. The teacher will identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, behavior and learning problems. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to: attain certification in Early Childhood Special Education, case manage students with Individualized Education Plans, write and collect data for IEP goals, lead IEP meetings, attending staff meetings & serving on staff committees as required; assisting in development or revision of curriculum; promoting parent involvement; determining and requisitioning materials and supplies for classroom activities.
