Description:  Nine-month faculty opening for a Secondary English instructor with an advanced degree in a teaching related field of study. The position will start August 1, 2024. The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Instructor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. A Master’s degree or higher in a teaching or education related field of study is required. Significant coursework in the area of English, Reading, Writing, and Literacy is required. Prior teaching experience with secondary students is required. Employment will require a criminal background check at University expense. Primary responsibility is to teach secondary English in an inquiry based approach-implementing technology as appropriate. In addition, coaching and/or sponsorship of clubs and activities is expected (Journalism/Yearbook). Greenwood faculty are expected to contribute to the function of a lab school and support the goals and mission of Greenwood and the University. Other responsibilities include working with the public affairs initiative, parents, college students, student teachers, practicum students, faculty, staff, and other duties inherent to working in a K-12 school as assigned.
