Description:  Northwest High School (Pettis County R-V) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Art / Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teacher for Grades 7–12, for the 2026-2027 academic year. Pettis County R-V School District is a supportive and family-oriented community offering a 4-day week school schedule, with approximately 160 students in grades 7-12. The district also allows incoming staff members to bring in all years of experience. This position is for High School Art/FACS in a district known for its minimal turnover and strong, team-like culture. Coaching/Sponsor opportunities could also be available. Position Overview: The Grades 7–12 Art / FACS Teacher will lead and develop engaging programs in both visual arts and Family and Consumer Sciences at the secondary level. This position plays an important role in fostering students’ creativity, practical life skills, career readiness, problem-solving abilities, and appreciation for both the arts and real-world applications.The teacher will provide high-quality instruction in both content areas while contributing to a positive, structured, and team-oriented school culture. This role offers the opportunity to impact students both creatively and practically as they prepare for high school and beyond. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging instruction in both Art and Family and Consumer Sciences for Grades 7–12. Teach a variety of art techniques and media including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media appropriate to grade level. Develop and deliver FACS curriculum that may include nutrition, culinary skills, child development, textiles, and other life-skills-based coursework. Foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and practical problem-solving skills. Prepare and display student artwork and projects for school and community exhibitions or events. Maintain and inventory art supplies, kitchen/lab equipment, and classroom materials. Manage daily classroom routines in a structured, safe, and supportive environment. Support student participation in related extracurricular activities, organizations, or contests (Art shows, FCCLA, etc.). Supervise students and ensure a safe, positive learning environment in both studio and lab settings. Collaborate with staff and administration to support student growth and district goals. Qualifications: Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Art, FACS, or appropriate secondary certification (or the ability to obtain certification). Knowledge of or willing to learn FACS and Art curriculum and practical project-based instruction. Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills. Commitment to building positive relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Willingness to contribute to a collaborative, team-focused culture.
