Experience Desired - Three years classroom teaching experience. Other requirements - Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and computer skills. General Summary: The Willard District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Middle School Behavior Interventionist. The Behavior Interventionist provides support to students, teachers and staff with the implementation of a classroom behavior intervention process. The Behavior Interventionist works with students to access self-regulation strategies and support the needs of students while addressing behavioral concerns with the goal of successful integration back into the regular classroom. The Behavior Interventionist will provide support by supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Performance Responsibilities: Works with individuals and groups of students (within a regular classroom setting and outside of the classroom) on procedures to support successful return to the classroom. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Mentors students for the purpose of improving performance, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues. Collaborates with teachers, administration, staff, and parents to create, monitor and assess individualized processes for behavioral support. Completes professional learning for the purpose of advancing expertise and delivery of highest quality behavioral intervention practices. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure in the classroom and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Compiles and analyzes data and recommends student behavioral intervention services and modifications. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration. Maintains confidentiality and non-judgmental views of children and families served. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and students’ achievements; developing methods for improvement; and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records (e.g. grades, test scores, etc.) for the purposes of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements. Reports health and safety issues to administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies (e.g. fights, suspected child or substance abuse, inappropriate social behaviors, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining students’ personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution. Performs campus supervision as needed or directed by the supervisor. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Participates cooperatively with the Principal in performance evaluations as stated in the district’s policies/procedures. Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent or principal. Participate in the tutoring program at the middle school. | |
