Description:  OZARK R-VI SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE:  ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST   QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid Missouri teaching certificate 2. Teaching experience with primary age children – At least three years of experience desired  3. Willing to learn, acquire and apply new skills and knowledge  4. Organizational skills  5. Effective communication skills 6. Strong math and literacy skills 7. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 8. Strong problem-solving skills  9. Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education  10. An employee commitment to serve as an academic interventionist for at least a two year period.   REPORTS TO:  Building Principal   JOB GOAL:  To provide academic assistance to struggling learners   PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Knows and embraces the philosophy and mission of Ozark Public Schools. 2. Knows and embraces the Ozark Public Schools instructional cycle. 3. Works with the school leadership team to guide and monitor the progress of each child. 4. Implements intervention groups across grade levels dependent on the needs of struggling students. 5. Is an active member of the buildings STAT (Student/Teacher Assistance Team) Team. 6. Communicates with all stakeholders concerning the needs of struggling learners. 7. Monitors Informal and formal assessments.   8. Conduct assessments to determine mastery of priority standards and understanding of supporting standards. 9. Differentiates instruction based on assessment data. 10. Meets one-on-one or with small groups of struggling students. 11. Designs and implements academic interventions using research based methodology in literacy/math. 12. Provides the high quality instructional time needed to move students to grade level proficiency. 13. Communicates with classroom teachers and provides information on interventions that can be implemented in the classroom. 14. Uses data to determine effective teaching strategies to fill learning gaps or impart new knowledge to struggling learners. 15. Documents interventions and progress on each child with whom they support. 16. Submits data as requested. 17. Participates in appropriate professional development required of academic interventionists. 18. Provides professional development to teachers on strategies for assisting struggling learners.  19. Participates in other duties as assigned.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Duties performed typically in a school setting. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting up to 30 pounds, walking, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.  TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days as per School Board Policy GCBDA  TYPE OF POSITION: Exempt  EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the building principal APPROVED BY SCHOOL BOARD:   March 25, 2021
