Description:  Parent Educator position open in award-winning Parents as Teachers department of the El Dorado Springs R-2 School District. The goals of Parents As Teachers are: 1. To maximize the pleasure of parenting; 2. To reduce the stress of parenting; and 3. Assist each parent in helping their child get off to the best start possible. The Parent Educator works toward these goals by providing information and support. A certified parent educator implements the PAT model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families. Qualifications Bachelor or four-year degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field is recommended (or equivalent degree outside of the US). Supervised experience working with young children and/or parents is also recommended. Strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, tactful) Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths. Strong organizational and record keeping skills. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated (often in the field) Computer skills; including web browsing, e-mail, Internet, and word-processing. The parent educator must complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings before delivering PAT services.

Job begins on July
Letter of Intent: 12 months
Hourly Wage: Based on degree level
Hours per Week: 40 as agreed upon by the Parent Educator and the Program Coordinator. The applicant must be willing to work evenings and/or Saturdays.
