Description:  Position:  Elementary Reading Interventionist Qualifications:   1.  Education level – Bachelor’s degree in Education 2.  Certification or Licensure – Appropriate elementary certification required; current Missouri K-12 Special Reading Certificate preferred. 3.  Experience desired – Classroom teaching experience which includes experience teaching and assessing reading preferred. 4.  Other requirements – Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and computer skills.   General Summary:  The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of various reading and assessment strategies and be able to communicate this knowledge effectively to building teachers and parents. Performance Responsibilities: Identify and select those children to be served, develop a reading intervention plan for those students, and support them in one-on-one or small group settings (targeting 3rd grade readers). Communicate the goals of the intervention program and expectations to parents, administrators and staff. Maintain communication with classroom teachers regarding the program and students served by it informally and in intervention team meetings. Collaborate and provide continuity of instruction with classroom teachers and other reading teachers. Work closely with Instructional Coach, classroom teachers, and other interventionists in the area of literacy to support their programs and instruction. Maintain and submit required records and data as required by the program director and building administration. Participate in the district provided Early Literacy training, includes a two hour course every other week afterschool and 90 minutes/week tutoring of one student (during or after school). Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
