District Bookkeeper and Benefits Coordinator Required Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with students, faculty, and general public in a diplomatic, friendly, and efficient manner. • Knowledge of standard office equipment and computer operation. • Knowledgeable and efficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other software packages. • Knowledge and skill with budget operations. • Some college education supplemented by a minimum of one-year experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. • Prior SISFin knowledge • Prior school finance Terms of Employment: • Twelve month position • Benefits, vacation, and leave per district policy • Competitive compensation based on education, experience, and district policy. Reports to: • Superintendent • Assistant Superintendent • Board of Education Performance Responsibilities: • Keep complete, accurate and legal records of all monies collected and expended. • Calculate revenues. • Maintain confidentiality of pertinent data/guidelines. • Prepare and file monthly financial reports for the Board of Education. • Provide information for the annual audit of school district records. • Assist in budget development and supervision. • Prepare for the annual audit by verifying revenue totals, gathering required documents and conferring with the auditor regarding any concern with year-end close out. • Perform bank reconciliation on monthly checks. • Enter all cash receipts. • Monitor cash flow and determine amount/method of investments. • Attempt to collect all NSF checks for the district. • Handle the receipt and release of all securities pledged from banks. • Pay all bills resulting from payroll. • Assist with the letting and analysis of bank bids as required. • Prepare quarterly financial reports under local, state, and federal guidelines. • Prepare the beginning and ending retirement reports for both certified and non-certified staff. • Process W-2s and all yearly reports to the IRS and MO Department of Revenue. • Handle all workmen’s comp claims and reports. • Handle varied questions from employees regarding health or dental insurance, Section 125 benefits, 403b plans, or retirement. • Record and pay retiree’s and COBRA insurance premiums, assist with any questions or concerns regarding those payments. • Oversee and/or complete annual ACA reporting. • Assist with calculations used in setting the tax rate. • Facilitate employee selection of benefits. • Other duties as required or directed by the Board of Education and/or the superintendent.
