Description:  MARSHFIELD R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION- All interested applicants MUST apply via our district website to be eligible for hire. Special Education Teacher 21-22 school year 6th grade Cross-Categorical Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Education with special preparation in the areas of teaching. Valid Missouri Teaching certificate. Certification in Special Education, cross categorical, and appropriate grade level. Updated transcript of college credit. TERMS OF CONTRACT: 183 days (individual contracts may be adjusted by mutual agreement of the teacher and the board of education), compensation per salary schedule. REPORT TO: Building principal and Special Education Director PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential job skills/knowledge and abilities: Provide leadership to his/her students in the learning process. Become informed concerning rules, policies and regulations of the school and to interpret and carry out these regulations in their daily program. Organize his/her room so that teaching and learning can best be accomplished. Shall be responsible for the discipline of students in their classroom areas supervisory duty. Develop effective professional relationships with students, parents, and staff. Maintain confidentiality of pertinent data/information. Achieve other assignments as assigned by the building principal and director of special services Must have a strong understanding of modifying the general education curriculum for special-needs students, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies. Special education teachers must have strong skills necessary to confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic needs. Student individualized assessment and interpretation; develop and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP); student instruction for students Grades 6-8; attend/participate in appropriate and relevant meetings and staffings; initiate and complete required paperwork within established timelines; collaborate with appropriate staff/individuals regarding student programs and services. Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Must successfully pass a background check that are satisfactory to the Board of Education. EVALUATION: Formative and summative evaluation per board of education policy. Frequency will depend upon length of employment and other factors relating to job performance.
