| Description: | Position Title: Counselor School Year: 2026–2027 Location: Lawson High School Position Overview: Lawson School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered High School Counselor for the 2026–2027 school year. This vacancy is the result of an upcoming retirement. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students’ academic growth, social–emotional development, and post-secondary planning. This position plays a vital role in fostering a positive school climate, collaborating with staff and families, and ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed. Primary Responsibilities: Provide academic, career, and social–emotional counseling to students in grades 9–12. Guide students through course selection, academic planning, and graduation pathways. Support college and career readiness efforts, including FAFSA assistance, scholarship resources, and career exploration. Provide short-term individual and group counseling interventions. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, support staff, and families to promote student success. Coordinate schoolwide testing programs (ACT, EOCs, AP, etc.). Maintain accurate records and uphold ethical standards of the counseling profession. Support initiatives that strengthen school culture, student well-being, and positive behavior. Qualifications: Valid Missouri teaching certificate with School Counselor certification (K–12 or Secondary 7–12). Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
