| Description: | Job Description: Valley R-VI School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for a special education classroom teaching position for the 2025-26 school year. This position is a full-time, salaried position. Interested part-time candidates would be considered as well. Position will start on January 5th, 2026 Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor Degree is preferred Certification/License: Appropriate DESE certification, Certification in special education Work Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred, Elementary classroom grades K-6 experience is preferable, Special education classroom preferable. Essential Duties: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities in accordance with federal and state regulations. Provide direct instruction to students with a variety of disabilities (e.g., learning, intellectual, emotional, physical). Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners. Use differentiated instruction and evidence-based teaching strategies to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications and to create a comprehensive approach to student success. Provide one-on-one and group instruction to students, focusing on developing appropriate social, emotional, and behavioral skills. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in overcoming challenges and meeting educational goals. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary. Conduct and/or participate in formal and informal assessments to identify student needs and measure progress. Collect and analyze data on student performance to inform instructional decisions. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress toward IEP goals. Participate in eligibility and reevaluation meetings as part of the special education team. Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents/guardians to ensure a collaborative approach to student support. Collaborate with parents/guardians, related service providers, administrators, and other educators to support student success. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences. Communicate regularly with families about student progress and strategies for home support. Provide guidance and consultation to paraprofessionals and support staff working with students with disabilities. Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavioral supports as needed. Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes respect and independence. Use proactive strategies to prevent and address behavioral issues. Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and other applicable laws and policies. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information. Participate in professional development and stay current with special education best practices.
