| Description: | This position is for the 2026-27 school year. Savannah R-III School District is seeking a compassionate, student-centered Elementary School Counselor to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of all students. The counselor will work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and administrators to foster a positive school climate and promote student success. Primary Responsibilities Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with district goals and Missouri standards Provide individual and group counseling for students Support students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns Collaborate with teachers and administrators to address student needs Develops and delivers classroom guidance lesson, implements SEL curricula, and leads initiatives that promote a positive school climate and student well-being Participate in problem-solving teams, IEP/504 meetings, and parent conferences Assist with classroom guidance lessons and school-wide initiatives Maintain accurate student records and documentation Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff Provide support and guidance for students experiencing crises, behavioral challenges, or other social-emotional needs. Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession Perform other duties as assigned by administration Qualifications Valid Missouri School Counselor certification (Elementary or K–12) Degree in School Counseling or related field Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students Commitment to supporting the whole child and fostering a safe learning environment Preferred Qualifications (Optional) Prior experience as an elementary school counselor Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning Experience working with diverse student populations | |
