Job Vacancy Description:  Secondary (9-12)
Description:  The Mexico Public School District is accepting applications for the position of Behavioral Interventionist for the 2021-2022 school year at Mexico Senior High School. Qualified candidates could hold a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, such as social work, counseling, or psychology. Work experience should include working with students who exhibit severe deficits in behavior or emotional regulation. Effective problem-solving and communication skills Evidence of planning and organizational skills Ability to structure work time and manage multiple priorities Excellent interpersonal skills Passion for working with teachers and students to support social and emotional needs in the classroom Ability to develop and maintain a positive rapport with staff, students and families Evidence of data driven decision-making skills Work collaboratively with building administrators and staff to identify students in need of early behavioral interventions Promote a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive Assist in crisis intervention and prevention Model behavior management strategies for teachers and staff to successfully address challenging behaviors in the classroom Effectively manage escalated student behavior Provides assistance with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegration back into the Classroom. Work with students to develop social-emotional skills and capacity to be successful in the classroom. Provide observation feedback classroom management/student behavior supports resources to teachers Help develop and implement Student Support Plans and/or Behavior Intervention Plans Facilitate small group and individual social skills Communicate with Intervention teams regarding all student behavior plans, subsequent revisions, and progress Attend intervention team staffings; update plans accordingly with revised data Working directly with students to provide needed support CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance FLSA STATUS: Exempt SALARY GRADE: Teacher Applications will be screened as they are submitted.
