Description:  The Mexico Public School District is accepting applications for the position of a District-Wide Social Worker for the 2021-2022 School Year. QUALIFICATIONS: Shall meet all state certification requirements in subject area Bachelor of Science with major in Social Work Degree Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Director of Social Emotional Learning, Behavior and Intervention DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL PURPOSE To serve as a support system for students and parents who are in need of assistance with any aspect of the public school system. Establishing relationships with students and parents who need assistance with school related issues. Assisting faculty and administrators in the implementation of programs for at risk children. Identifying and disseminating information regarding community programs which meet specific needs of students and their families. ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS: Consult with parents, classroom teachers, nurses, counselors, administrators, other school staff and outside agencies. Interview the families to assess problems affecting the student’s educational achievement and adjustments. Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural,societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior. Provide information and assist in contacting available community agencies which may assist in meeting the needs of high risk students. Encourage and assist families in their pursuit of community services that may assist in the remediation presenting problems. Work with parents to facilitate their support to their children’s school adjustment. Educate parents regarding the social, emotional, physical and academic needs of their children. Develop positive interpersonal relationships with students, families, staff and community. Serve as a part of the multidisciplinary teams, participate as a member of the team to provide input in developing treatment goals, behavioral interventions, and family support. Assist in conflict resolution and/or restorative practices and behavior management of students as needed. CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance FLSA STATUS: Exempt Salary Grade: Teacher TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month Contract with salary, benefits, and work days to be established by the Board of Education. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel. Applications will be screened as they are submitted.
