Description:  Mexico Public Schools is now accepting applications for an Agriculture Education Teaching position for grades 9-12 for the 2023-2024 school year. QUALIFICATIONS: Shall meet all state certification requirements Bachelor of Science with major in education (or) Minimum of two years related job experience College level courses in vocational education Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Director - Vocational Education DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Main Job Task and Responsibilities: Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develop workplace attitudes Differentiate instruction to meet individual student learning styles Curriculum to meet changing IN state standards for Construction Trades Include a unit on safety and OSHA standards within the curriculum Participate in Career and Technical Education events Provide instruction in all phases of the building trades industry as a project is built from beginning to end Actively participate in ongoing curriculum development Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs Ability to maintain safety and organization on the project work site. Demonstrates industrial materials, equipment, tools and processes, using standard and teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches and other instructional aids. Seeks, acquires and applies new effective techniques and teaching methodologies. Maintains an audible record of student attendance and makes daily reports of students absent each period. Instructs pupils in use of eye protection and safety guards, and in the use, care and safe operation of tools, machines and equipment. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to tools, machines and equipment. Establishes and maintains high expectations for self and pupils. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive environment in an activity-type classroom with many potential hazards. Evaluates each pupil's performance, knowledge and skills in course being taught and prepares pupils progress reports. Selects and requisitions instructional aids and equipment; maintains required inventory records; makes purchases as authorized. Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned. Keeps informed of the industrial community's job entry requirements and instructs pupils in the rudiments of getting and retaining these jobs. Works cooperatively with clerical personnel, aides and other support staff to create a positive learning and working environment. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as assigned. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Provides input and assistance to administration and other staff members regarding matters related to his/her teaching field to insure a harmonious and productive working environment. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities as specified in professional development plan. Assists the administration whenever possible with concerns directly related to his/her classroom responsibilities or other related concerns. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month Contract with salary, benefits and work dates to be established by the Board of Education. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel. Applications will be screened as they are submitted.
