Extracurricular and coaching opportunities are also available. Macon High School has approximately 450 students. MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITY: The Activities Director is responsible for providing students an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sports, and the principles of fair play. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics for the district. Provides leadership in the selection, assignment, training, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff. Fosters good school/community relations by keeping the community aware of athletic events. Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events in accordance with Missouri State HIgh School Activities Association guidelines. Coordinates officials, team physicians, and police officers as required, and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities. Verify each athlete’s eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget. Requisitions program supplies and equipment. Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic department. Arranges all details of visiting teams’ needs. Makes arrangements for non-school use of playing fields and facilities. Arranges field and gym practice schedules. Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season. Keeps records of the results of all middle and high school athletic contests and maintains a record of all award winners stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships. Assesses the state of Macon R-I athletics and activities (participant interest, coaching interest, community interest). Provides coaches with constructive criticism when needed. Ensures that all coaches and students are in compliance with MSHSAA and NFHS standards. Assists coaches in planning and supervising an annual recognition program for school athletes. Assumes other responsibilities as directed by the administration, including overseeing the Food Service program. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience. BSE certification. Effective leadership skills and experiences.
