Description:  NCA is a Christian College Preparatory School serving grades Jr.K-12. All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian college preparatory school committed to achieving Academic Excellence, teaching Biblical Truth, and developing Christ-like character" JOB SUMMARY New Covenant Academy is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time Vocal Music Instructor (grades 5-12. The general course load includes 2 sections of grades 5-8 choir and 1 section 7-8 elective, 2 sections High School Choral and a High School Co-Curricular) Hours are the general school day per the division the teacher is working in, beginning on August 13, 2021, through May 2022 (employment agreement renewable annually pending board approval). This instructor will work at 2 campus locations Warrior Campus at 3304 S. Cox Ave. and Liberty Campus 3581 S. Kansas Ave. (within 1 mile of each other). Instructional—-Must plan, instruct, and direct students in approximately 3-4 concerts per school year (Christmas, Spring Concert, Grandparent’s Day and Annual Banquet) as well as prepare students for misc. performances as needed. For secondary level students, must be familiar with all MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) requirements for competition and prepare students for musical competition ensembles, solo and large group. Must also plan for and be available to take high school students on designated special trips for competition or performance. Full job description provided upon interview. TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications include Minimum Requirement-Bachelor degree in a related area and State certification for teaching vocal music 5-12th grades. The candidate must lead a lifestyle compatible with NCA standards and policies and have a call to teach in a Christian school and at NCA in particular. NCA holds all personnel to a standard of excellence. In keeping with its bylaws and its ministry-based mission to incorporate a Christian worldview into all coursework, candidates must be role models to its students, have a personal relationship with Christ, and regularly attend a church in alignment with the mission and policy. BENEFITS & COMPENSATION The salary base for this position with the required minimum education begins at $34,810 for a first-year teacher with certification. Fringe benefits for the full-time teacher includes medical insurance for the employee, with NCA paying for a majority of the premium. The employee may pay for an additional cafeteria plan for self and family. Contingent on the employee being on a health plan offered by NCA, additional dependent health insurance benefit is available in the 3rd and following consecutive years of employment with NCA paying up to $175 per month for a dependent not on another insurance plan and up to a maximum of $87.50 per month for dependents that are covered by another health policy. 50% discount in tuition remission for your own qualified student to attend New Covenant Academy. SPIRITUAL • Demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ, and have an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian School. • Have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. • Have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that allows being a true example to all students. • Implement their jobs “as unto the Lord”: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men.” • Be active in a local body of believers and should be faithful in reading God’s Word and daily prayer. • Agree fully and without reservation with the school’s Statement of Faith. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocol. This position may require occasional lifting or transport of objects (25-30lbs). Rarely, it may be necessary to lift up to 50lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT/SCHOOL SETTING Florescent lit classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other areas where students may be. Noise levels will vary throughout the shift.
