Chillicothe R-II School District seeks an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and progressive individual for the position of Assistant Superintendent. Beginning with the 2018-19 school year. The successful candidate will possess strong, high-level, and proven leadership skills in school: curriculum, instruction and assessment; technology; buildings and grounds maintenance and improvement; student transportation; personnel; and be a proficient communicator. Essential duties include: • Working in partnership with the Chillicothe R-II Superintendent and Board of Education in compentent, resourceful, and responsible management of the Chillicothe R-II School District; • Demonstrating knowledge of and adherence to federal, state, and local law; as well as Chillicothe R-II Board of Education policies; • Assists with the day-to-day operation of the District. • Participating in or leading collaborative work with the Chillicothe R-II Administrative Team; • Oversee and facilitate the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for student performance and growth; • Serve as the District CSIP Chairperson • Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, materials for school systems; • Advise administrative staff in curriculum development, use of materials and equipment, and implementation of mandated state educational standards; • Serve as District Testing Coordinator working with Principals and Data Teams in disseminating disaggregated achievement data, and communicating achievement data to instructional staff for effective improvement of student achievement. • Facilitating short- and long-range planning which includes the construction, repair, renovation, relocation, etc. of district buildings and other facilities (with Superintendent); • Assist District Technology Specialist in supervising technology maintenance and expansion; • Monitors the implementatin of all programs subsidized through Federal Funds, including Title I, Title IIA, Title IID, Title IV, Title V and Title VIB • Prepares the annual Federal Grants Applications and Final Expenditure Reports. • Overseeing conditions pertaining to the safety and welfare of both students and staff; • Serving as the district’s co-compliance officer (with the Superintendent); • Ensuring communication and transparency in the district’s external and internal relationships; • Responsible for the recruitment, selection and induction of new support staff, and recommends candidates to the Board for hiring. • Supervises and evaluates District support staff. • Creates a school calendar work schedule for support staff. • Settles support staff grievance concerns. • Supervise and direct District integrated pest management • Oversee required DESE food service reports. • Oversee District food service sanitation and inspection procedures. • Is responsible for inventory and use of District food service commodities. • Oversees bid requirements and processes of District milk, bread, fuel, paper, and bus tire needs. • Coordinator of the District Wellness Committee and Wellness Plan. • Supervise and complete required telecommunication technology systems and District E-Rate plan. • Oversees and supervises the Student Transportation Department; and Procurement of Student Transportation needs. • Settles student and parental grievances of the Student Transportation Department. • Is responsible for District asbestos reports and inspections. • Oversees bid requirements and processes of District facility and equipment needs. • Supervises and oversees the District Maintenance and Custodial Department. • Is responsible for the District maintenance and preventive maintenance program of buildings and grounds. • Is responsible for District purchases of building equipment, custodial and maintenance supplies and equipment. • Develops Request for Proposals for District building and grounds needs. • Makes periodic visits and inspections to all school buildings throughout the school year. • Fosters school and community relations. • Ensures compliance with appropriate State and Federal Constitutional and statutory rules and regulations. • Assume responsibility for personal growth and development through advanced course work; membership and participation in professional organizations; professional readings; regional, and state meetings. • Promoting the respect of the traditions of the Chillicothe R-II District, while guiding the district into the future with state-of-the-art leadership. • Performs other duties as assigned.
